Arrival Time
You will be contacted a day or two before your procedure to review preoperative instructions and confirm your arrival time. Please call us at (408) 356-0454 if you have not been contacted by 2:00pm the business day before your surgery.
Eating, Drinking and Smoking
Eat a light dinner the evening before your surgery. Do not drink alcoholic beverages. Do not smoke, eat or drink any beverages (including water) after midnight prior to your surgery.
Medications
On the day of your surgery please bring a complete list of all medications you are currently taking. If your physician has advised you to take any medication, please do so with as little water as possible. If you are diabetic, do not take your insulin or oral medication the morning of surgery - unless otherwise directed by your physician. Bring your insulin with you. If you use an inhaler, remember to bring it with you.
Personal Hygiene
You may bathe or shower and brush your teeth before coming to the center. Avoid swallowing water.
Personal Care Items
Do not use, perfumes, creams or lotions on the day of surgery.
Clothing
Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. If you are having surgery above the waist, do not wear pullover tops. Wear shoes that have low heels.
Valuables
We recommend that you leave all valuables including jewelry at home.
Dentures, Hearing Aids, Contact Lenses and Glasses
These items may need to be removed prior to your procedure.
If you use any of these items, please bring their cases with you for proper storage.
Hair
We recommend that you wear your hair loosely. Avoid using clips, pins and bands that bind hair.
In Case of Illness
If you develop a cold, persistent cough, sore throat, fever or any other illness within 2 days of surgery, please notify your physician immediately.
Visitors
Visitors may stay with you before your surgery. They will be able to wait in our lounge area during your procedure until you are ready to go home. Please limit your visitors to two people. Small children should be left at home.
Anesthesia Services
We offer a complete range of anesthesia services provided by board-certified and board-eligible physicians. You will have an opportunity to meet your anesthesiologist prior to surgery to have all of your questions answered and to participate in developing your care plan. There are three types of anesthesia available; General, Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) and Local or Conscious Sedation. Anesthesia services are not part of the facility fee and are billed separately.
Identification & Financial
Bring a picture ID, insurance information and any payment needed (MasterCard & Visa are accepted) for co-pays, deductibles or cash pay procedures. Please do not hesitate to call us with any questions during business hours.
